Alban CAT, the Caterpillar dealer for the mid-Atlantic region is accepting applications for a Field Technician, Rents in our Upper Marlboro branch.
The Field Service Technician – Rents is responsible for performing basic maintenance and repairs to Caterpillar and allied rental equipment in the shop and at customer job sites; recommending swap out of machines requiring higher level of repairs; preparing parts requisitions. Perform basic maintenance on both Caterpillar and allied rental equipment, including checking fluid levels (fuel, oil, hydraulics), changing/charging batteries, replacing hoses, and other similar service. Perform basic repairs, including changing oil, replacing fuel filters, replacing bulbs, and changing wheel assemblies. Determine proper repair procedures on all assigned work orders. Recommend swap out of machines requiring intermediate level, or higher, repairs. Disassemble machine as needed to perform service work. Reassemble to factory specifications. Interact with customer and answer repair-related questions as required. Refer non-repair questions to supervisor. As needed, instruct customer on operation of equipment. Interpret and utilize information from operating, maintenance and service manuals/bulletins. Prepare parts requisitions, parts returns, accurate and complete service reports, and other necessary reports and forms. Inspect components removed from machines to determine their reusability. Clearly and concisely document all work and repairs completed in a timely manner. Maintain work area, tools and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment. Travel to all company locations and job sites as required.
Experience performing basic level mechanical service and repairs to Caterpillar and related competitive equipment. Must possess ability to repair Caterpillar and non-Caterpillar construction equipment. Experience with computer software. Must be able to interact with customers on a professional level. Must be well organized and have ability to prioritize workload while providing excellent customer service. Must have proven experience working independently. Must be a strong communicator with excellent verbal skills. Must have good mechanical aptitude. Must be willing to travel. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must have valid driver's license and a good driving record.
