Alban CAT, the Caterpillar dealer for the mid-Atlantic region is accepting applications for a Shop Technician I, Tractor in our Upper Marlboro branch.
The Shop Technician I-Tractor is responsible for maintaining internal engine/component parts and performing service and repairs to heavy construction equipment. Service and repair internal engine/component parts, including head gaskets. Repair undercarriages; rebuild hydraulic cylinders and small engines; remove/install engines, transmissions, pumps, and axle assemblies; replace turbos; and perform other similar service and repairs. Apply troubleshooting techniques to diagnose basic diesel engine, powertrain, and hydraulics issues. Assist Technicians with disassembly and assembly of engine/components. Minimal reworks. Reassemble machines to factory specifications. Paint parts and components. Assemble and/or repair new and used work tools. Prepare parts requisitions, parts returns, accurate and complete service reports, and other necessary reports and forms. Interpret and utilize information from operating, maintenance and service manuals/bulletins. Inspect components removed from machines to determine their reusability. Clearly and concisely document all work and repairs completed in a timely manner. Maintain work area, tools and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment. Previous experience with heavy construction equipment and work tool repair.
Must have experience repairing internal engine/components, including head gaskets; removing/installing engines, pumps, final drives; replacing turbos and performing other intermediate level mechanical repairs. Experience in use and application of computer software. Must have thorough knowledge of internal engine/component parts. Must possess skills to remove/install small engine parts/components. Demonstrated to learn and apply new knowledge. Must have the ability to repair Caterpillar and competitive components and machines. Must possess mechanical skills to rebuild Final drives, transmissions, and pumps. Good oral and written communications skills. Must be able to work with general supervision.
