Alban CAT, the Caterpillar dealer for the mid-Atlantic Region is accepting applications for an IT Business Analyst for our Baltimore branch.
The IT Business Analyst is responsible for working within the business to thoroughly understand our applications as well as the strategic implementation of new solutions that improve efficiency while aligning with Corporate goals and objectives. Acts as a strategic partner/liaison with the business community and IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve functional and technical issues and to promote the usage of current and future business applications. Analyzes current workflows, processes and requirements and recommends solutions to improve future workflow, data accuracy and overall effectiveness for the business unit. Leads and manages the requirements gathering and analysis process on concurrent projects by planning, estimating and effectively communicating all activities with the project team and business stakeholders. Works directly with business stakeholders to ensure all required documentation and training materials are formalized and accurate. Supports Project Management by assisting with resource management, gap analysis, scope control, end user support, etc., according to project methodology. Independently translates business requirements into high level and detailed functional specifications. Participates in technical design sessions, identifying and communicating project risks and recommends solutions. Performs various other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in a related degree program or a minimum of 2 years of experience in software implementation, process improvement and data analysis. Strong knowledge of relational databases and concepts; understanding of Microsoft SQL Server is preferred. Must be capable of writing SQL queries, stored procedures, functions and views for ad-hoc, recurring standard reports or file builds. iSeries Cobol/CL/RPG/DB2 programming experience preferred. Experience working with remote users, distributed teams, software and support vendors preferred. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to train users in the use of software technology and communicate technical information to non-technical users. Must have a practical understanding of Network Support/troubleshooting, PC/Server Hardware setup and configuration. Must be proficient with MS Office with advanced Excel skills and have practical knowledge of MS Windows based Operating System with an emphasis on Windows client and server platform. Must be willing to travel to branch locations and off premise training sessions and work evenings and weekends if required.
