  • Overview

    Alban CAT, the Caterpillar dealer for the mid-Atlantic Region is accepting applications for a Shop Technician II, Commercial Engine for our Elkridge branch.

    Responsibilities

    The Shop Technician II, Commercial Engine is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical generator systems and related engine failures along with both Caterpillar and non-Caterpillar Marine and Industrial equipment. Troubleshoots intermediate level operational, mechanical and electrical failures of generator sets, Marine gear and gas engines and determines corrective action through the inspection of failed parts. Uses medium voltage and/or reactive load bank equipment for the testing and repairs of generators.  Performs light electrical and heavy mechanical repairs to the engines, generators or components, DOC/DPF, light overhauls, fuel and cooling systems.  Installs and commissions small genset units with Open ATS and commissions S/U Industrial, Marine and gas engines.  Prepares parts requisitions and returns, documents and submits service reports and other forms, maintains work area, tools and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment.  Performs various other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Must have experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing intermediate level issues and performing light electrical and heavy mechanical repairs to electrical generator systems and related equipment. Must have experience diagnosing and troubleshooting intermediate level mechanical and electrical DOC/DPF/SCR with Marine and Industrial equipment. Must have experience installing and commissioning small genset units with Open ATS. Must be able to operate medium voltage and/or reactive load bank equipment. Must be able to perform sea trial and data logger. Must have excellent verbal, written and customer service skills, proficiency in the use and application of all CAT electronic software (SIS, ET, etc.) and a valid driver’s license. Must be able to work with no supervision.
